Video Clip: Behind the Scenes of a Hip Replacement Surgery
About the Position: Operating Room RN | Full Time | Evenings
Under the supervision of the Director of Surgical Service, an OR Registered Nurse will work alongside and assist doctors, surgeons, and other members of the surgical team to ensure patients receive the best possible care and outcome during surgical or other invasive procedures. You will need to ensure general, regional, or local anesthesia are safely administered to the patient. During the surgery, you may be required to monitor the patient’s vital signs, maintain a sterile environment, manage bleeding, suture incisions, collect samples for labs, and assist during any complications. You will also need to account for sponges, needles, instruments, and sharps during the intraoperative phase. Due to the intense nature of surgical procedures, an Operating Room Nurse must be a quick thinker and be able to remain calm under pressure, while also allowing the patient to participate in their care by respecting and carrying out their wishes accordingly.
