About the Position
The Pediatric Intensive Care Services Unit at MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital is looking for nurses that are enthusiastic about family and patient-centered care and passionate about pediatric oncology care. About the Pediatrics Intensive Care Services Unit at MD Anderson
Our Pediatrics Intensive Care Services Unit is a 9 bed pod providing an inter-professional team approach to care for all pediatric patients including: Medical/Surgical Pediatrics Intensive Care Services consisting of Immune Effector Cell Therapy, oncologic emergencies, acute oncology surgical procedures, and supportive care.
Essential Functions
Manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. Scope: Impacts quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area.
Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team.
Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies.
Participates in data collection for current studies.
Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies.
Documents care according to established standards.
Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems.
Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services.
Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights.
Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

Qualifications/Requirements
Ideal candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, TX RN license and at least one year of recent Pediatrics, Pediatrics Hematology, Pediatrics ICU or Medical/Surgical ICU and Oncology experience
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing, required
Bachelor's degree in Nursing, preferred
Current State of Texas professional nursing license (RN), required
Certification in oncology or specialty practice area, preferred
1 year recent RN experience in Pediatrics, Pediatrics Hematology, Pediatrics ICU or Medical/Surgical ICU and Oncology, preferred
Shift
7pm - 7am
26 out of 52 weekends per year
